The short version

DonorGraph includes every public signal, cites the record behind each one, publishes the price and opens a trial without a call. Since October 31, 2020, WealthPoint has returned no political-donation data at all, and Blackbaud's own documentation says the company cannot guarantee accuracy of the rest; the price is quoted per contract, and public procurement records are the only anchors buyers have. WealthPoint's real advantage is placement: it lives inside Raiser's Edge NXT and Blackbaud CRM, so ratings appear on the constituent record without an export. The table below is fact for fact.

The political-data removal, in Blackbaud's words

"To comply with applicable laws, FEC (political donations) will no longer be returned in WealthPoint screenings."

Blackbaud Knowledge Base, article 194450, "Why is FEC data (political donations) missing from WealthPoint results?", effective 2020-10-31. Unconfirmed FEC records were purged at the same time. Blackbaud's ResearchPoint help files still describe a political-donations tab, but the screening no longer populates it.

To be fair to Blackbaud: using FEC data for commercial solicitation has real legal constraints, and Kindsight made a similar call by keeping FEC data out of its scores. DonorGraph's position is that campaign-finance records are public precisely so that the public can see them; we show the itemized filing, employer as self-reported, date and committee, and treat it as one line of evidence among several. Your gift officers decide what it means.

Where DonorGraph is different

The signal Blackbaud deleted is in every profile

Federal and state political contributions are itemized: date, committee, amount, and employer as the donor reported it. For most major-gift prospects, this is the most recent public financial act on record, and it is often the only public record that carries a self-reported employer.

Live property, not a nightly file

Blackbaud's nightly WealthPoint refresh excludes real estate and giving, and an address change does not trigger a re-screen. DonorGraph looks up property ownership at screen time, parses co-owners and trusts from the deed record, and shows the parcel behind the number.

A price you can read

Blackbaud contracts are individually negotiated, with implementation fees and annual escalators that procurement records show compounding year over year. DonorGraph's grid is on the pricing page, month to month or annual, and the AI brief is included.

Evidence you can audit

A WealthPoint rating is a number. A DonorGraph capacity finding is a list of documents: deed, 990 line, SEC filing, FEC line, each linked. Where the documents do not support a conclusion, the profile says no evidence found. We describe the full method on how we verify.

What you give up

Who switches

One honest caveat: many organizations run both — WealthPoint for the rating inside the CRM, DonorGraph for the cited profile before the visit. Three of your own donors through the free trial settles it in an hour.

Frequently asked questions

Does Blackbaud WealthPoint include political donations?

No. Blackbaud removed FEC political-donation data from WealthPoint screenings effective October 31, 2020, stating it was 'to comply with applicable laws', and purged unconfirmed FEC records. As of 2026 the data has not been restored to WealthPoint or ResearchPoint.

What is WealthPoint?

WealthPoint is Blackbaud's wealth-screening service inside Raiser's Edge NXT, Blackbaud CRM and ResearchPoint. It appends capacity and asset indicators (real estate, securities, business affiliations, philanthropic gifts) to constituent records and produces a WealthPoint rating.

How much does Blackbaud wealth screening cost?

Blackbaud publishes no price. Public procurement records give anchors: Raiser's Edge NXT is listed at £6,849 per instance per year on the UK G-Cloud framework, and a Texas university's 36-month Blackbaud contract was $212,034 (about $70,700 per year). Contract data aggregated by procurement platforms puts the median Blackbaud contract near $20,000 per year. WealthPoint is typically an add-on to those figures.

Can I use DonorGraph if my CRM is Raiser's Edge NXT?

Yes. Export a constituent list, screen it in DonorGraph, and import the results back as attributes or notes using the Raiser's Edge NXT CSV format; Enterprise adds an API. DonorGraph does not write directly into Raiser's Edge, so if in-record write-back is a requirement, that is the trade-off to weigh.

Does DonorGraph replace ResearchPoint?

For the screening and profile-building part, yes: every DonorGraph search returns a complete cited profile and AI brief. For Blackbaud-specific workflows (prospect management inside RE NXT, ResearchPoint's research lists), keep those tools and use DonorGraph as the evidence layer.

Why does political giving matter for fundraising?

Federal and state political contributions are public record, self-reported with employer and address, and are among the strongest public indicators of both discretionary capacity and civic affinity. A screening that omits them is missing a signal that costs nothing to include.
